I’ve gained more imagination with age

Hello, you beautifully sparkling human!

I haven't written these newsletters for a while, but now I'm noticing a lot more subscribers so I thought now is a good time to continue this journey of philosophical snippets in this newsletter format!

Who said imagination disappears with age?

I can't really say this resonates with me. I can't relate to it. When I look back on my childhood I remember myself as less creative and less imaginative than I am today. For me, it seems like imagination increases with age. I get new and better ideas the older I get.

Maybe that has to do with being more mature. I now realize which ideas are good and which are not good enough to work. That can certainly be one reason I feel like I'm more successful with imagination the older I get.

Another reason can be wisdom. When you grow older, you become wiser and then you realize imagination is vital for our progress in life. Without it, we become trapped in the boring adult greyscale. And like with being mature, being wise tells me which ideas of my imagination are good and which ones will succeed in life as well.

The final reason I want to explore is life experiences. If I experience more like I naturally do the older I get, I naturally get more ideas. Ideas come from what we experience and are what imagination is built on (or if it's the reverse - imagination leads to ideas?) so that really makes sense to me!

The conclusion is; don't be afraid to age or to start "late". Chances are you do things better now than you would have done it before. This is your sign to start your passion project if you have one in mind but are afraid of being "too old". It really is what people say "Better late than never"!

What do you think?

Main takeaways

  • Imagination must not disappear with age!
  • Being wise and mature helps with imagination and knowing which ideas are good and not.
  • Life experiences lead to ideas which is what imagination really is - or perhaps it's the reverse, but either way, they are connected!
  • It's never too late to start a passion project or start anything at all!

issue #2 Feeling content Hello again! Welcome to another issue of Lunic Philosophy. It has been a while since I wrote something, but I have been busy building up my contentment. Feeling content with what is Sometimes contentment can be perceived as a "lukewarm" feeling, which means it's not necessarily a "good feeling". I want to ask a question though: isn't contentment a foundation of any other good feeling? I would say it is. To be really happy, you need to feel content in life. It's a...
